Updated COVID-19 resources and local information available online



Aurora remains under the state's Stay-at-Home order amid the COVID-19 (coronavirus) crisis. The city of Aurora continues to work hard to provide the core services our community depends on and is providing the latest information on local response and access to community and business resources at AuroraGov.org/COVID-19:

·     Information sheets on the Stay-at-Home order in English and nine other languages
·     Frequently Asked Questions about the federal CARES Act and what it means for local small businesses, workers and Aurorans affected by the crisis
·     Business resources, including information on applying for emergency grants and loans
·     Community resources, including information on health care, housing, food and donation resources
·     Closures and cancellations of city facilities and events

If you are in need of resources related to the COVID-19 crisis, call 211 or go to 211Colorado.org. If you have business-related questions, or want to report a business you think may be in violation of the Stay-at-Home order, contact businesslic@auroragov.org or 303.739.7057. For other information about the Stay-at-Home order, contact the Tri-County Health Department at 303.220.9200.

City Council continues its work via teleconference

The Aurora City Council is still hard at work to govern the city, with teleconferencing in place of in-person regular meetings and policy committees, as well as daily briefings on the city's COVID-19 response. Go to AuroraGov.org/Council for information on how you can listen in or watch.

For the April 6 regular meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m. (preceded by a Study Session at 5 p.m.), the public can view the meeting online at AuroraTV.org and Comcast cable channels 8 and 880. You can also listen to the meeting by calling 877.820.7831 and using participant code 254610#.

In advance of the meeting, submit a comment for Public Invited To Be Heard or an individual agenda item to publiccomment@auroragov.org, or a comment regarding the 2021 budget to budgetcomment@auroragov.org. Please indicate in your email whether you want your comment read into the record at the meeting or simply forwarded to mayor and City Council. Staff will read the first three minutes of any comment into the record as requested. Comments will also be accepted in advance of the meeting by phone by calling the City Clerk’s Office at 303.739.7094.

Census timeline has been extended, but you can complete yours today from home

At a time when we’re all keeping a little distance, we can still come together, Aurora.

The current public-health challenges we face coincide with one of the most important duties we have as residents of the United States: the Census. To date, Aurora is ahead of the state average for self-response rates to the Census, with 42.2% of households having completed their information (that's better than the state average). But we have a long way to go.

Completing the census is an important task, and Aurora needs you. We need an accurate count to make sure the city receives the necessary funds to be able to provide the quality of life and services our growing community needs. Being at home gives you the opportunity to complete the census online or over the phone in just 10 minutes. Your information its completely confidential and is only used for statistical purposes.

The Census timeline has changed and enumerators will not be knocking on your door until May 27. Also, the period to respond has been extended until August 2020.

Make sure you perform your civic duty and get counted. Respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone or by mail today. Visit AuroraCensus2020.org or call 844.330.2020. Learn more about how to complete the Census with this online video.

Explore the world while staying at home
Do you feel a little shut off from the rest of the world during the Stay-at-Home order? Some city programs within Library and Cultural Services have some great ways for you to stay connected.
·     Aurora Public Library – The library has daily storytime on Facebook, ebooks, audiobooks and other remote-access tools, Learn at Home activities, Do It Yourself projects, virtual field trips and more. Aurora Public Schools students can access most library databases using their student ID number.
·     Aurora History Museum – Explore online exhibits, archives and lesson plans from your home, including interactive maps and more.
·     Aurora Dance Arts – On its Facebook page, Aurora Dance Arts is providing live online dance classes, with some of their fabulous faculty teaching from home, dance tutorials and dance challenge videos, and various other online resources for dancers and families.
·     Aurora Fox Arts Center – This week, the Aurora Fox started a weekly interview, Meet the Artists, with artists connected to the Aurora Fox. Check it out on the Aurora Fox’s Facebook page or Instagram.
·     Art in Public Places – The city’s Art in Public Places program has a downloadable coloring book featuring some of the most popular public arts in Aurora. Visit its Facebook page to download your free copy.

City of Aurora Metro District Information Meeting
Thursday, April 30, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The city of Aurora is hosting this informational meeting, which will be presented in a teleconference format due to COVID-19, to discuss Title 32 Metropolitan Districts. This meeting will include a presentation from the Special District Association of Colorado and city staff members, along with a chance for questions and discussion. Information on how to access the meeting and participate will be posted soon at AuroraGov.org/MetroDistricts.

City Center Visioning Study
The original outreach meetings scheduled for April on this project have been delayed until further notice due to COVID-19. Please visit AuroraGov.org/CityCenter for project updates and future outreach opportunities in the coming days.
