Three Aurora Public Library branches to open Mondays starting Feb. 1
Beginning Feb. 1, the Aurora Public Library’s Martin Luther King Jr. and Tallyn’s Reach branches will be open on Mondays for the first time; Mission Viejo branch will reopen Mondays.
Monday hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Library and Mission Viejo Library, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tallyn’s Reach Library.
“This is the first time that Martin Luther King Jr. and Tallyn’s Reach branches will be open more than five days a week,” said Patti Bateman, director of library and cultural services for the city of Aurora. “This is good news for our library patrons and the community of Aurora in general. Every time we have the possibility to expand or add services is an opportunity to serve our community a little bit better.”
The library hours will be:
-Aurora Central Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway: Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, 12:30 to 6 p.m.
-Martin Luther King Jr. Library, 9898 E. Colfax Ave.: Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
-Mission Viejo Library, 15324 E. Hampden Circle: Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, closed.
-Tallyn’s Reach Library, 23911 E. Arapahoe Road: Monday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, closed.

Natural Helpers Program seeking volunteers to be resources for immigrants and refugees
Residents who want to serve as network of support must apply by Feb. 5
Aurora is seeking volunteers for a Natural Helpers Program to serve the city’s growing immigrant and refugee communities. Interested volunteers must apply by Feb. 5. Fifteen people will be selected. Successful applicants must demonstrate bilingual skills, be knowledgeable of their community and its members, have access to a computer and email, and commit to training Feb. 26-28, as well as at least two workshops throughout the year.
There is no cost to become a Natural Helper, and some support funding is available to defray the cost of child care and transportation associated with attending training.

Protect your pet from deadly diseases. Each year, the Aurora Animal Shelter hosts quarterly pet License & Vaccination Clinics. Each clinic is held on a Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the shelter, 15750 E. 32nd Ave. In order to participate, cats must be in a carrier and dogs securely controlled on a leash. Aurora owners must also present a current pet license for their dog or cat or purchase one at the clinic. | |
